Praying through the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Have you ever felt the strong urge to pray at a given time, but you never really understood why. I don't mean the time when as Christians we set aside either in the morning, afternoon, evening or night to pray. I am referring to when the Holy Spirit prompts you and you burst into tongues even when you try to speak in English words will fail you. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans, Rom 8:26.
Most often at night or during the day, I get urged to pray, and I find myself sometimes praying for hours, and when I try to stop, it keeps flowing, it is like the Holy Spirit taking over me and praying through me in tongues. Eventually, I end with thanking God and basking in His presence and glory. This happens sporadically, and there is no lengthened frequency.
However, in May 2021, while we were still trying to figure out my dads’ health situation, I found myself between 4 – 6 pm AEST I would burst out in praise and speaking in tongues it doesn’t matter where I was, at home or work, in the train or walking on the street. Of course, I pray and sing in a low voice in public places lest people think I am crazy, but I let myself lose at home. I jump, dance, sing out loud and pray out loud. I would worship, praise and burst in tongues for hours. Little did I know that God was working on behalf of my mum. 2 weeks after she came back to the states with my dad, my mum started saying she was feeling cold, she was taken to the hospital, but they couldn’t identify any form of sickness or cold in her.
My sister called and informed me my mum had collapsed in the bathroom days later after her visit to the hospital. She was unresponsive, and she couldn’t hear or understand any command. She had to be carried to the hospital as she couldn’t walk independently. When all this was happening, my prayer circle was still going on. They ran a series of tests at the hospital but couldn’t fathom the cause of her collapse. They checked her brain, but nothing could explain her condition nothing made sense. She did not have any underlying medical condition. Eventually, they said she had three mini-strokes, but it was not severe enough to cause the collapse or her unresponsiveness. Because there was no medical explanation for her condition, they could not subscribe to any medication. She was placed on IV fluids to get essential body nutrition.
On the second day of her stay at the hospital, she regained consciousness, and on the third day, she was released to go back home. Days after being released from the hospital, the urge to pray between 4-6 pm stopped. While pondering this, I realised a battle was raging, and I started asking God why all this was happening in my family, like I was not ready to lose both parents in one year. I couldn’t understand why the devil would attack my family and me. And I was reminded that he is only after our soul to destabilise us and take our attention away from God. And I was like, Nah satan, not today, not ever, you lost over 2000 years ago, and you are still losing. Today, my mum is strong, her faith keeps getting strengthened daily, and the Lord’s joy is continually our strength.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12
We are in a battle fam, the devil ain't playing and neither should we. As Christians, we need to be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit and be in a posture of obedience to do as it leads. We need to be spiritually and physically ready.
Like Ephesians 6 puts;
11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

yes. mainly this year. I feel all things happens to us to just help us knowing GOD better. till we learn we need to trust him no matter how difficult is our situation, how much pain we have, ... and he shows us why those things happen.
Great blog Victoria! Around 6 years ago I prayed in tongues for 50 hours over a few months to heal myself of a digestive condition. Indeed, a study by Dr Carl Peterson showed that as we pray in the Spirit, the brain releases 2 chemical secretions that are directed into our immune systems giving a 35 to 40 percent boost to the immune system. This promotes healing within our bodies. Amazingly this secretion is triggered from a part of the brain that has no other apparent activity in humans and is only activated by our Spirit led prayer and worship.
